Weddings

Your wedding is one of the most important days in your life. You want it to go well and be remembered for all the right reasons.

There can hardly be anything better than getting married in a traditional church with choir and bells. St Anne's with its fine building, its history, music and peal of 8 bells provides all of this and is a very popular church for getting married.

Anglican churches are open to all, you do not need to be a "member" to get married in a parish church.

There are legal formalities to getting married, but these are seldom an obstacle. If you are planning to get married and thinking of having your service at St Anne's then we suggest that you should meet us at an early stage in your planning. We will be able to guide you through the process, and indeed help you to decide whether a church wedding is for you. We will be able to give you a copy of our "Wedding Notes" that not only tell you about the process but give numerous tips and advice right down to the names and phone numbers of who you might talk to about music and flowers.

Please contact the Church Office on a Tuesday morning and speak to our Wedding Coordinator to arrange a meeting.

What it means to be a Christian.

Christian life is lived in relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and in common with other Christians in the church seeking to deepen that relationship and to follow the way that Jesus taught.

For Christians God is understood and known as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

…Father… God is love, caring for creation and for every human being as God's beloved child.

…Son… God is as he has revealed himself to be in the historical person of Jesus Christ. Jesus' life, death and resurrection holds the key to knowing and loving God, and to making sense of life, before and after death.

…and Holy Spirit… God is alive, loving and active today, inspiring faith, justice and truth, sustaining the life of the world, giving spiritual gifts to the church and bearing his spiritual fruit in the world - changed lives and a transformed society.

Marriage Preparation Day

A particular feature of the church's programme is a Marriage Preparation Day, usually held in the spring. All those planning to get married at St Anne's during the year are invited, and the workshops and speakers help the couples to think through the many issues they may encounter in their life together.
